YEAR 2 - St Lucy & St Dominic

Welcome to Year 2 - St Lucy & St Dominic smiley

In Year Two, the children have been  having great

fun learning through practical activities.

In Maths they have been learning how to share equally using themselves and diennes blocks.

In R.E they have been using drama to  learn about Eastertide and have reflected on how Jesus rose from the dead on the first Easter Sunday and what this tells us about Jesus.

In Design Technology, the children have been researching, designing and making  their own model windmills.  They have refllected on which skills they are building on and how they could improve their products.

During Music the children learned about Morris dancing and folk music and performed  a stick dance on the playground with Mrs Memmott.

As part of their Literacy, and building on their Science knowledge, Year Two went on a scavenger hunt to find natural treasures which they then used to build up descriptive sentences using exciting and ambitious vocabulary.

Then in Literacy, they painted dots just like the main character in the book we are looking at called The Dot by Peter H Reynolds.  They are also working hard to develop a Growth Mindset and have discussed the message from the book on how we should just have a go and see what happens…
