Welcome to music at St Mary’s school, a subject that has the power to nurture and build the self- confidence of every single child. We strongly believe all children have the right to experience, enjoy and achieve in music at our school and know that this is evident.
We offer a rich and diverse music curriculum delivered by real music specialists who teach in every year group. All of our children will learn to sing, play percussion, play the recorder and the guitar whilst they are with us and everyone who wishes to is able to take up individual instrument lessons.
We sing weekly as a whole school, accompanied by our school worship band as well as enjoying singing rhymes, songs and prayers in a range of different subjects including MFL. We have two school choirs who take part in our local Coastal Alliance singing festivals, as well as travelling out to our local community to sing at supermarkets, nursing homes and church community social clubs. Every year group participates in a musical show at least once a year, which may be a Christmas or Easter production, an end of year event or even our big concert at our local secondary school, organised by our talented peripatetic teachers and all these events are great opportunities for our creative and hardworking little musicians to shine.
