Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
Pope Francis has decreed that 2025 will be the year of Jubilee, a holy year which happens every 25 years in the Catholic Church.
At St Mary's, we all made pledges to start the Jubilee Year of Hope. Here are some of our hopes for this year:
Global Debt
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils looked at the CAFOD Jubilee campaign against global debt. We looked at some videos and scenarios to help us understand what global debt is then designed our own hands to give a message to the UK government to make debt laws fair for everyone.
Our Jubilee Pledge
In July, all our classes worked together to come up with our school Jubilee Pledge - our long term commitment and promise for a better world. We have decided that we should:
- Carry out a litter-pick on the beach once each term to help look after our environment.
- Regularly collect food for our local food bank to help people in our community.
- Pray for others and set a good example for others on how to be a Pilgrim of Hope.
We added our school to the CAFOD Pledge map, along with the other schools.
